The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

 

of Managers and Leadership

 

COMMENTARY

Since I have well over 40 years of extensive business management experience in several different industries and markets; I have been thinking about the many memories that I have with really good managers and leadership and the memories of really bad ones.

These business memories and experiences of these, I will share with you in this article as a valuable learning and training tool for you.

Some are examples of Excellence in Good Business Management and yet others are examples of very bad and ugly.

All of the memories of such that I am sharing with you here are true and that I actually personally experienced.

Amazing stuff to learn from.

First let’s review the ‘Real Good Management and Leadership experiences and memories.

These will make you feel good and see the Excellence in Management and Leadership that is possible.

  1. Human Resources HR Manager walking through all departments interacting with employees and staff, daily. Even politely and caringly asking how is the family and children doing. Showing care is powerful.
  1. Human Resources HR Manager walking through all departments at 5:30 PM evening looking at who is still at work. When people were found working late the HR Manager encouraged the people to please go home and relax and that they, the HR Manager, needs to be the last one to leave and he wants to go home after long day of working.

Same thing happened with some good managers and higher-level leadership people, even the president of company.  They also cared enough about employess and staff to encourage them to go home, leave work and relax and ‘have a nice life’ outside of work.
