Spell out the Benefits

Benefits for you

When you share knowledge, you can improve your expertise. People will ask questions. You will need to find out the answers, and this may require further research.

This is also a way to showcase your existing expertise on a topic.

When you explain, you also upskill your communication skills: how can you explain a technical standard simply? Or some new technology? These are crucial skills for every leader.

The process forces you to formalize your tacit knowledge. By doing so, you open up the path to delegation. And when you delegate, you have more time to concentrate on new projects or to change your position.

Benefits for your team

Sharing knowledge is an important step for onboarding new members: it can be done through documents, recorded videos with explanations, and conversations.

When you take the time to talk about your projects at hand, you can also get new perspectives that will enhance your creativity.
