LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Hi David,
I’m writing this letter simply to say thank you.
This month, I completed the eighth and final article in the series “Lessons Learned from the Maturity Research” for the PM World Journal. For eight months, I immersed myself in analyzing data collected since 2005, looking for common denominators. It was hard work, but a truly stimulating endeavor — and many valuable insights are now documented in this collection.
I want to express my gratitude to you, David, because it was your encouragement that inspired me to start this undertaking. In fact, it was also your motivation at another moment (October 2020) that prompted me to continue this maturity journey, when your PMWJ editorial recognized the importance of our work. At that time, I was uncertain whether I should continue. That editorial gave me the energy to go on with the research and to resume other projects that had been paused, such as updating the maturity questionnaire and revising the book for its 4th edition.
I remember meeting you through our mutual friend Russell Archibald (in memoriam), who, in fact, was the one who encouraged me to start the maturity research back in February 2005. With the motivation I received from both of you, I participated as a speaker in six editions of the UT Dallas PM Symposium. During one of those visits to Dallas, I had the pleasure of staying in your beautiful home and being warmly welcomed by your wife, Carla.
You have created the PM World Journal and have maintained it for the past 14 years, making it better and stronger with each edition. It has become a global reference, enabling many professionals to publish their ideas and studies. In a world where projects are central instruments of transformation, the PM World Journal plays a strategic role as a catalyst for knowledge, dialogue, and innovation in the global project management community. Professionals of the highest reputation from all over the world can be found in its pages. Together with Russell, I co-authored 14 articles for your journal, and in total, I have written 25 articles since September 2012.
