Successful 2023 Case Studies
Project Management as a Public Service
On December 13, 2023, the annual event of the Spanish Association of Integrated Project Management (AEDIP) took place with the theme Success Stories in Project Management 2023 – The DIP as a Public Service. It was a day in which we met the new members of the employers’ association, reflected on DIP in public projects, shared the best projects of 2023, and rewarded outstanding members for their contribution to the sector. The event happened in collaboration with PlanRadar. The conference was led by José Gil, secretary general of the association, and opened by Elena Holgado Molina, President of the association. In the institutional welcome, Holgado shared the activity and achievements of AEDIP during 2023, insisting that for Project Management to become increasingly important, we must work together.
This conference was a meeting point for all the real estate and construction sector agents, and they introduced the new associates of the employers’ association Arthko Project and Deurza Consulting. Afterward, they held a face-to-face meeting to reflect on the future of Integrated Project Management in public projects, in which Elena Holgado and Emiliano Rodríguez participated. Subsequently, the three success stories that opted to win the award for Best Directorship were presented.
This year’s finalists were 10t with Silo Automatizado for Consum, Murcia; ACTIO Project Management & Engineering with the development of the Student Residence for Aparto Student, Barcelona; Integral Archiconsult with the Adaptation of the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium for FC Barcelona. The finalists explained the different strategies adopted during the implementation of the projects, the challenges they faced, and the solutions they found to meet the expectations of the project.

Alfonso Bucero, MSc, CPS, ACE, PMP, PMI-RMP, PfMP, SFC, IPMO-E, PMI Fellow, is an International Correspondent and Contributing Editor for the PM World Journal in Madrid, Spain. Mr. Bucero is also the founder and Managing Partner of BUCERO PM Consulting. Alfonso was the founder, sponsor, and President of the PMI Barcelona Chapter until April 2005 and belonged to PMI’s LIAG (Leadership Institute Advisory Group). He was the past President of the PMI Madrid Spain Chapter and then nominated as a PMI EMEA Region 8 Component Mentor. Alfonso was a member of the PMIEF Engagement Committee. Alfonso has a Computer Science Engineering degree from Universidad Politécnica in Madrid and is studying for his Ph.D. in Project Management. He has 36 years of practical experience and is actively advancing the PM profession in Spain and Europe. Alfonso received the PMI Distinguished Contribution Award on October 9, 2010, the PMI Fellow Award on October 22, 2011, and the PMI Eric Jenett Excellence Award on October 28, 2017.
