Dr. Santhosh Loganathan is a faculty member of Construction Technology and Project Management at the Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy), Tamil Nadu, India. He teaches/trains B.Tech., M.Tech. and PhD scholars at NIT Trichy on construction/project management-related subjects. His areas of research include Construction Productivity Improvement Through Technology Integration and Automation, Lean Construction Methods & Practices, Construction Risk & Stakeholder Management, Construction Workforce Management & Capacity Building, Organisational Development & Knowledge Management in Construction Organisations, and Sustainability in Project Management. So far, he has published 40+ research publications, which include an edited book, five book chapters & five industry reports, and 25+ peer-reviewed/refereed/Scopus-indexed/WOS-indexed Journal articles & conference publications in the areas of construction/project management. His research group includes 11 B.Tech. (bachelor’s), nine M.Tech. (master’s) & two PhD scholars.

Before joining NIT Trichy, he worked at L&T Institute of Project Management (IPM) as a faculty member in the area of project management & leadership for about four years. At L&T IPM, he was involved in training professionals (engineers & managers) of varying experience levels, from graduate engineer trainees to ~25 years experienced project management professionals. At L&T IPM, he was also involved in the design & development of ‘PRAGATI’ – the project leadership development program of L&T (one of the largest EPC organisations in the globe) by analysing the training needs and career paths for project management professionals within the organisation. He also enabled industry-academia collaborations with leading institutes such as IIT Madras & IIM Calcutta, while at L&T, with regard to the learning & development of project management professionals.

Santhosh consults leading construction/infrastructure companies & develops case studies, investigating the real-time challenges involved in the execution of large infrastructure projects for effective project management training & dissemination of best practices. He was co-involved in setting up the L&T Case Centre during his tenure at L&T IPM and co-edited the book ‘L&T Body of Knowledge (BoK) Case Studies: Volume I’, published by Taylor & Francis.

Santhosh continues to train professionals in the area of project management, behavioural & leadership skills, and lean construction and is associated with leading firms such as L&T, Tata Projects, Afcons Infrastructure, URC Construction, Godrej Construction, Caterpillar, Rolls-Royce, etc., to build human capacity to deliver quality projects. He has trained about 2500+ construction/project management professionals across these organisations.

Santhosh holds a Joint PhD in construction project management from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, under the supervision of Prof. K N Satyanarayana, Prof. Shankar Sankaran, Prof. Koshy Varghese & Prof. Perry Forsythe. He was involved in the conceptualisation and development of ‘Construction Industry Improvement Initiative India (Ci3 India) while at IIT Madras. He also worked as a research assistant & casual teacher for about 1.5 years while at UTS Australia and co-taught subjects including design team management, site establishment & management, engineering practice preparation & reflection.

Santhosh delivers invited talks & keynote addresses in leading academic & industry organisations, co-organises International/national conferences and is part of the Doctoral committee for a few construction/project management PhD scholars. He also reviews research articles and is on the editorial/review board of some of the leading Journals/conferences, including the Project Management Journal, Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management, Built Environment Project and Asset Management, ICE Journal-Management, Procurement & Law, ASCE’s Construction Research Congress conference, Indian Lean Construction Conference & other International/national conferences in the area of construction/project management.
