Dr. Mahanim Binti Hanid, PhD (Const Mgmt) (Salford), MSc. Bldg Tech (USM), B.QS (Hons) (UM) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Quantity Surveying at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. She received her PhD in Built Environment from the University of Salford, UK, building upon earlier qualifications in building technology and quantity surveying from top Malaysian institutions. Her interdisciplinary background combines sustainability, cost management, and education innovation within the construction industry.
Her research focuses on sustainable construction practices, particularly the circular economy, green cost modelling, construction waste management, and lean construction. She is the principal investigator for several nationally funded FRGS research projects, including the development of a green cost premium model and gamification in education for construction-related learning.
Dr. Mahanim has published widely in reputable journals, such as Planning Malaysia, The Malaysian Surveyor, International Journal of Technology, and Academy of Strategic Management Journal. She also co-authored books on project finance and pre-construction cost management and has delivered keynote presentations both nationally and internationally.
She is actively involved in academic leadership and quality assurance, serving as Head of Department, curriculum committee member, and supervisor to numerous PhD and Master’s candidates. Her industry contributions include participation in Malaysia’s Standard Method of Measurement (SMM3) task force and consultancy in sustainable building practices.
Her accolades include Gold and Best Paper Awards, Certificates of Excellent Service, and Editorial Board appointments, reflecting her impact across academia, research, and industry.
