Welcome to the September 2024 edition of the PM World Journal (PMWJ), the 145th monthly edition of this practitioner-oriented publication. This month’s PMWJ is another diverse and interesting edition, with 35 new works by 53 different authors representing 19 different countries. The new editions this month bring our totals to 5,214 works by 2,013 different authors representing 90+ countries published in the PMWJ to date and now archived in the PM World Library.
One Letter to the Editor is included in this edition on the topic of Work Breakdown Structure vs Benefits Realization Management. Who would have thought? Kik Piney in France weighs in.
One Interview is included this month, courtesy of PMWJ correspondent Yasmina Khelifi in Paris, who has put some questions to Dr. Peter Thuy, president of the German Project Management Association (GPM). Don’t worry, it’s in English. This interview and the universally interesting questions and answers prove once again how international the PM profession now is. Don’t miss this interesting interview.
11 Featured Papers are included this month, by 22 authors in 10 different countries. These good papers are a mix of academic and professional research, by professors, graduate students and very senior project management practitioners. The topics vary from directly to indirectly related to program and project management. Please see the substantial paper by Alan Stretton this month on “Pluralism in Project Management”, an important topic that many have not yet even thought about. Rather than mention all of the titles and authors, I can say that all are substantial works representing many hours of research and writing. So please review the titles and summaries and read one or two. Several are on important new topics.
Seven Series Articles are included by rather distinguished authors in eight countries, all of whom are established experts in the PM field. Dr. Deepa Bhide in India is back with another powerful article related to “AI for Healthcare and Healthcare Insurance”. Dr. Stanislaw Gasik in Poland has authored the next in his series on “Let’s Talk About Public Projects”, this month’s article titled “Project Assurance – A way to increase public projects’ chances of success.” Oliver Lehmann in Germany has authored a delightful new article on “Bottlenecks and Other Opportunities”. Martin Hopkinson in the UK has penned another brief guide in his “Practical Project Risk Management” series, this one on “Project Strategy Risks.”
