WELCOME

Welcome to the February 2025 edition of the PM World Journal (PMWJ), the 149th monthly edition of this practitioner-oriented publication. This month’s PMWJ is another diverse and interesting edition, with 33 new works by 39 different authors representing 16 different countries. The new editions this month bring our totals to 5,340 works by 2,079 different authors representing 90+ countries published in the PMWJ to date and now archived in the PM World Library.

One Letter to the Editor is included in this edition on the topic of personnel management.  It’s actually a republication of a very funny post in the local newspaper in Manila, courtesy of Dr. Ken Smith; I’m sure some of you will be entertained.

Two Interviews are included this month, courtesy of PMWJ correspondents Yasmina Khelifi in Paris and Ipek Sahra Ozguler in Istanbul.  Yasmina’s Q&A is with Dr. Vladimir Obradovic, Vice President of Finance and Operations for the International Project Management Association (IPMA). As you will see, Dr. Obradovic is a rather busy and influential leader in Europe. Ipek’s interview is with Americo Pinto, the now rather famous director of the PMO Global Alliance, now part of the Project Management Institute (PMI).  Ipek’s interview was prepared during and after PMI’s recent PMO unCon conference in Istanbul which she attended. Check out these interesting interviews.

Eight Featured Papers are included this month, by authors in nine different countries.  Featured papers are fully referenced research papers, often a mix of academic and professional research, by professors, graduate students and very senior project management practitioners.  The topics are directly to indirectly related to program and project management. Rather than mention all of the titles and authors, I can say that these are substantial works representing many hours of research and writing.  So please review the titles and summaries and read one or two. Several are rather technical, several fascinating and a couple on significant current topics.

Six Series Articles are included this month, five by regular authors and one by the author of a new series.  Starting with the newbie, I am happy to introduce a new series of articles by Mr. Cornelius Fichtner.  Cornelius is well known in the U.S. as the creator (in 2005) and broadcaster of The Project Management Podcast.  Starting this month, Cornelius is providing a month summary of a recent podcast, for those who may not be familiar with his podcast or regular listeners.  This first one is titled “Mastering Project Dependencies: A Guide to Successful Project Delivery.” Thank you and welcome, Cornelius.

Now for our regular series contributors: Dr. Deepa Bhide in India is back with another powerful article in her new series on “IT, AI and Healthcare PM”, this month’s article titled “Transforming Rural Healthcare”. Through her PMWJ articles, Dr. Bhide has been creating a great new body of knowledge related to projects and project management in healthcare.  If you are working in that field, you need to follow Dr. Bhide. Dr. Stanislaw Gasik in Poland has authored the next in his series on “Let’s Talk About Public Projects”, this month’s article titled “Governmental Project Implementation System.” As Deepa is doing in the healthcare field, Dr. Gasik is expanding the PM body of knowledge related to public programs and projects.
