Michel Thiry, PhD, PMI Fellow appointed PMWJ Honorary Global Advisor

 

Program and Value Management Expert joins international advisory team for PM World Journal and Library

20 March 2024 – Dallas, TX, USA and Montreal, Canada – PM World has announced the appointment of Michel Thiry, PhD, PMI Fellow as an honorary global advisor for the PM World Journal (PMWJ) and PM World Library (PMWL).  Michel is Managing Partner at Valense Ltd., a well-respected international consultancy and education network.

Michel Thiry has an extensive worldwide experience and has worked in many cultural environments. He is recognized as a worldwide authority in applications of project, program, portfolio, and value management at the organizational level. He has supported the development and implementation of portfolio frameworks and strategic programs for major corporations in various fields, including construction, financial, health, IT and IS, telecom, water treatment, transportation (air and rail), local government and others using agile and change concepts.

He is a regular Keynote Speaker for major international events, both at the Academic and Practice levels since 1996. He has been teaching post graduate level courses worldwide and has been a Seminar Leader for PMI® SeminarsWorld since 2001. He has written and lectured widely and been invited to sit on expert panels in international Academic and Practitioner forums. Michel has led several agile transformation programs.

In 2013, the PMI® published the 2nd edition of his book “A Framework for Value Management Practice”. His 2010 book “Program Management” has been presented with an Award of Merit by the Canadian Project Management Association and is on the PMI’s recommended list of readings for the PgMP® Exam. The 2nd edition was published in 2015 by Routledge and is translated in Chinese and Korean. He has also written several book chapters on Value, Program and Portfolio Management in prominent PM books and was also a contributing editor for PM Network from 2003 to 2008. He was a “Significant Contributor” to PMI’s The Standard for Program Management Third Edition (2013) and was on the core team of PMI’s Practice Guide to Managing Change in Organizations (2013).

Michel has authored over 50 academic papers and presentations in academic and professional conferences worldwide, his joint paper with Manon Deguire: ‘Recent Developments in Project-Based Organisations’ was selected Best Paper of Conference at IRNOP VII Project Research Conference, Xi’an, China, October 2006. Keynote Presentation. He was an adjunct professor at post-graduate level for ESC Lille (now SKEMA), France, Université Mundiapolis, Morocco, and University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. He is PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP) Instructor for PMP, DASM, DASSM, DAC, DAVSC, PMI-CP.

Michel graduated as an Architect at the Université de Montréal; he has obtained an MSc in Organizational Behaviour with the School of Management and Organizational Behaviour at the University of London and a PhD on the Contextualisation of Project Organizations at Middlesex University in the UK. In 2006 he was elected PMI Fellow for his continued contribution to project management. In 2008, he was awarded a Life Achievement Award by the Canadian Society of Value Analysis of which he was a co-founder. In 2014, he was awarded the PMI Eric Jenett Project Management Excellence Award for outstanding contributions to the practice of the profession, and leadership in advancing PM concepts, techniques, practices, or theories.
